KUCHING: Muaythai Association of Sarawak (PMNS) junior athlete, Eswandy Hassan showed his prowess to win the challenge trophy of Muaythai Championship City Cup 2017 at the Amphitheatre, Jalan Budaya, here, last weekend.
Eswandy defeated his challenger from PS Bintulu, Ting Chek Tee in the 71 Kg category to win the title.
The Mayor of Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), Datuk Haji Abang Abdul Wahab Haji Abang in Julai officiated the prize-giving ceremony and gave away the challenge trophy.
Kuching Division Resident, Shukarmin Chasemon gave away the prizes for other categories on the first day of the tournament.
Also present were the PMNS President, Haji Jumaat Ibrahim, Kuching Muaythai Association President, Haji Sulaiman Salleh.
Meanwhile, the first day saw the selection of athletes to compete in the South Zone of Sarawak Games (SUKSAR).
The two-day tournament was organised by the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC), Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) and SUKSAR Secretariat in collaboration with the Muaythai Association of Sarawak (PMNS) and the DBKU.
