LUNDU: The worst is over in flooded Lundu with the closing of two relief centres that housed some 70 people from 20 families last Saturday.

The centres were officially closed at 2pm yesterday as the weather had improved and the flood waters had fully receded.

Families were forced to seek refuge at the two centres (SK Sebat and Kampung Sebat Dayak community hall) after their houses were inundated by flood following continuous downpour which started about 3am that day.

The state disaster management committee secretariat chief, Major Ismail Mahedin, said the SK Sebat relief centre had 48 people from 13 families while Kampung Sebat Dayak community hall housed 22 people from seven families.
