KUCHING: A two-storey unoccupied house and a store at Lorong 24B, Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Edruce here, were destroyed by an evening fire yesterday (Mar 4).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) deployed firefighters from Batu Lintang station to the scene after receiving a distress call at 6.44 pm.
Upon arrival, the team found that the house and store were 90 per cent and 80 per cent destroyed respectively.
The extinguishing deed was performed to contain the fire from spreading using water sourced from the fire truck.
No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
Overhaul works were conducted to ensure that there is no risk of reignition before the operation ended at 8.35 pm.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
