SIBU: More than 260 people comprising pupils, teachers, parents and staffers of SK Batu Wong here attended the ‘Hari Permuafakatan’ and motivational programme held at the school, recently.

Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Maurice Giri, who represented Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi officiated at the closing of the programme.

In his speech, Maurice said that a student learning progress is not dependent on his/her teachers alone but his/her parents must give their support and cooperation to the school.

“Besides, teachers should communicate with the parents on their children’s progress,” he said.

The ‘Hari Permuafakatan’ and motivational programme was organised by Seraban Social and Welfare Association (Seraban).

Maurice also lauded the organisers and urged them to continue to organise such programme.

The invited speakers for the programme were  from Tun Abdul Razak Teacher’s Training Institute, Kota Samarahan, Dr Stanley Abang, John Brodi and Moris Henry Manjat.

Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Tapah Ata, organising chairman Nelson Brandah Seli, Penghulu Philip Kayak and headmistress of SK Batu Wong, Maria Emak were also present.
