MIRI:  “I was disappointed with Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng’s statement,” said Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau.

“It’s an evil statement because it can cause panic to investors,” Dennis added.

“I find this to be not a smart remark because Guan Eng as a Federal Minister should show leadership to help draw confidence in ensuring our country’s progress,” he pointed out yesterday.

“But I thank Lim Guan Eng for taking his time to visit Sarawak. I am sure he is aware of his ministerial responsibility towards the state,” he said, adding Guan Eng should make more visits to the state, including its rural areas.

“I hope PH leaders can understand their role as the federal government, that is to source for economic streams for the country. If they cannot understand that and still behaving the same way they did when they were the opposition, I suggest they resign and let Malaysians go back to the ballot box,” he said.

Sharing similar views with Dennis was Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Piasau branch secretary Karambir Singh.

“All these years, the Sarawak government has built up its reserves through prudent financial management,” he opined.

He added that Sarawak also has a good fiscal standing in the financial markets, the comment made by the Finance Minister was “uncalled for” and “lacking in professionalism”.
