Excavator and backhoe worth RM1 mil to help enterprises

MIRI: The Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Chamber (DUBS) Miri branch received an excavator and backhoe valued approximately at RM1 million from the Sarawak government.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said this assistance given to DUBS Miri reflected the Sarawak government’s commitment to help enterprises or those in the state so that their members can undertake projects,

“We hope with the assistance provided, members of the Miri DUBS could carry out or undertake projects to generate income,” said Awang Tengah, whose text of speech was read by Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat at the simple handing over ceremony in Tanjong Lobang here today (Sunday).

At the event, Dr Ripin handed over the two heavy machineries which would be managed by DUBS Miri Cooperative and rented out to members for them to undertake projects.

Awang Tengah added the announcement (to provide DUBS Miri with the heavy machineries) were made by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during his opening remarks at the association’s 14th General Meeting for the 2021-2024 term held at Eastwood Golf and Country Club in Miri on February 20, 2020.

“We hope with the assistance provided, members of the Miri DUBS could carry out or undertake projects to generate income.

Awang Tengah, who is also Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment, added various initiatives have been carried out and planned to ensure the survival of the entrepreneur ecosystem in Sarawak.

“Among these initiatives are the Small and Medium Entreprises Loan Scheme (SPIKS) offering loan schemes up to RM250,000 to Bumiputera entrepreneurs in order to help them to purchase equipment for their businesses.

“We also have Go Digital programme providing grants in the form of equipment worth up to RM10,000 for entrepreneurs who wish to use social media (buying laptops or camera) to promote their products,” he said.

Also present to witness the handing over of the two heavy machineries were Minister for Transport Sarawak Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, DUBS Sarawak chairman Datuk Abang Helmi Ikwan and Miri DUBS chairman Mohammad Hafidz Rohani and Miri deputy mayor Cr Ariffin Mohammad.
