Japanese students join along in singing the national patriotic songs.

KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Japanese students from the Malay Language Department of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) to Sarawak is the best opportunity to get to know the culture and language of Japan and as well as Sarawak.

New Sarawak Tribune and Suara Sarawak chief executive officer Dr Jeniri Amir said this was because through the visit, it exposed the students to know and understand more about the culture, religion, customs and the uniqueness of the diversity of different races found in Sarawak.

“In the context of today’s global world, the mastery of a foreign language is very important in an effort to improve one’s skills in different languages of the world,” he said.

He said this during the luncheon with the ‘Anak Samurai’ at the Muara Tuang Constituency Service Centre yesterday (Sept 4).

At the same time, he also called upon the people to learn foreign languages ​​as an added value considering that language plays an important role throughout the world.

“I believe that one day students from Sarawak will not only study in Japan, but they will also master the Japanese language in addition to several other languages ​​such as Thai, Indonesian and so on,” he said.

Later, Dr Jeniri also conveyed his appreciation to Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang for his support in making one of the programmes a success.

“I also hope that through this programme, the students involved can learn and understand more deeply about the culture here. It is the best opportunity for us to exchange cultures,” he said.
