KUCHING: The festival fans going for the upcoming Borneo Music Festival (BMF) are in for a treat with classic and high energy sets by Alan Walker.

The British-born Norwegian DJ behind hits like Faded and Alone revealed that he is excited to come down to Sarawak.

“I have not heard much about Borneo to be fair, but I am excited to come down and experience the festival as well as meeting fans.

“I am scouting on the top list of what is trending and popular in Malaysia. I will see if I can sneak some into the set,” he said in a short interview with Hitz Sarawak.

Walker will be performing at the BMF on Sept 9 to 10 in Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) alongside South Korean international sensation DJ Soda.

The first BMF is also set to headline the local music and entertainment scene with more than 2,000 festival goers expected to attend.

The music festival was originally scheduled for 2020, but it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Apart from music performances, there will be 30 to 40 stalls set up for festival goers to explore the taste of Sarawak and enjoy cultural performances prepared by SCV.

Earlier, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah stated that the music festival will strengthen Sarawak’s position as a prime and ideal destination for music tourism in the country and region.

He pointed out that music events like the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF), Borneo Jazz Festival (BJF), Kuching Waterfront Jazz and Miri Country Music Festival among others, are always a favourite among people.
