Exciting programmes for Malaysia Day celebration

KUCHING: The public can look forward to a host of programmes, including video presentations, during the state-level Malaysia Day celebration on Sept 16.

It will be broadcast live on Sarawak Public Communications Unit’s (Ukas) Facebook page, TV Sarawak (TVS) and Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM).

Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who is the minister in charge of handling the state-level do, said the celebration would kick off with dance performances.

A special video titled ‘Malaysia Menang Bersama’ will also be presented, about combating the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

“The special video is about our country battling Covid-19, showcasing the unity of the people in ensuring that we win this fight.

“It also tells of the efforts by the federal and state governments to ease the people’s burden, as well as the national vaccination programme aimed at reaching herd immunity so that we can return to our normal life.” said Lee, speaking at a press conference here on Thursday (Sept 9).

“Apart from that, a special song will be presented titled ‘Jiwaku Malaysia,’ followed by a special theatre monologue titled ‘Air Dicincang Takkan Putus’.

“The monologue revolves around the journey that’s full of joy and sorrow of Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak in defending their land and independence.”

An interesting performance titled ‘Lets’ Celebrate’ featuring local singer Melissa Francis will also be presented.

Sarawakians around the world, including celebrities and icons, will be dancing and singing to the tune ala TikTok.

“After that, we will be shown a special video titled ‘Our Generations’, which revolves around the history of the formation of Malaysia.”

The last performance would be a medley of patriotic songs performed by local singers.
