KUCHING: Some 140,000 Indonesians in Sarawak are eligible to cast their votes in the Indonesian presidential election in April.

However, this figure is expected to rise significantly prior to polling day, thanks to mobile voter registration.

“Through mobile voter registration, eligible voters can select any of the three voting methods at their convenience,” explained Indonesia’s Overseas Election Committee Kuching chairman Adi Dewanto to New Sarawak Tribune.

“Besides voting at polling stations at the Consulate General office at Jalan Stutong here, voters who are residing far away can cast their votes via postal and mobile ballot boxes,” he said yesterday.

Adi urged his compatriots here to exercise their voting rights, adding that he hoped companies and business owners would grant them time off to cast their votes on polling day.
