SIMUNJAN: Members of Parliament (MPs) of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will ensure that the construction of school infrastructures in Sarawak be implemented effectively.

Federal Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri stressed that the construction of the Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Abang Man here and other school infrastructure projects in the state should be expedited to ensure better education access for Sarawakian children.

“Representing the voice of Sarawakians, my job at the federal level is to continue to remind the government through the Ministry of Education to expedite infrastructure projects that is required for education and learning at my constituency here in Batang Sadong,” she said during the ‘Back To School Programme’ for Simunjan and Gedong held at SK Simunjan No 1 on Sunday (Feb 7).

The Batang Sadong MP pointed out that there is a need to empower the teachers and cultivate their English proficiency skills.

She added that the MPs are working hard to ensure children from B40 (low-income) families at every constituency have education access through the B40 Socio-Economic Sustainable Development Solution programme.

“Regardless of the political background of an MP, we work together for the benefit of the children in their respective areas,” she said.

Nancy further said tourism entrepreneurs must be ready to upskill themselves and expand their capabilities to stay relevant.

“Motac (Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry) will ensure that the craft industry will continue to be strengthened.

“Upskilling or reskilling is very important to enhance the knowledge of craft entrepreneurs. From there, we look at unique craft products to help this group generate income,” she said.
