SARATOK: Grassroots leaders play a role in disseminating the policies of the Sarawak government so that the public is not easily influenced by the sweet promises of the opposition.

Sarawak State Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar said that Sarawak-based parties such as Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) had specific agendas for the state and its people.

According to him, there is no reason for the people to be divided.

“I appeal to the grassroots leadership here to open their eyes and take responsibility to explain the policies of the Sarawak government that prioritise the state.

“Under the GPS government, a child is given RM1,000 while the mother who gives birth gets RM400. In addition to an annual state budget of more than RM11 billion, it also helps to pay for the down payment for the purchase of a house as well as various other initiatives that are not given by any other government in the world.

“Therefore, there is no reason for us to change direction since Sarawak is a stable government,” he said during the donation presentation ceremony for the mosques and surau in the Kalaka State Constituency at Al-Muhtadin Mosque near here today.

“Under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, the government has increased many allocations for development.

“Everything is for the sake of the people. The people will not lose under the current government,” he said.

At the event, Asfia contributed RM10,000 to five mosques and RM5,000 to 10 surau in the Kalaka State Constituency.

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri thanked Asfia and the Sarawak government for the donations to the mosques and surau in Kalaka.
