MIRI: Miri Hospital’s new extension will incorporate many sustainable features through the Malaysian Carbon Reduction and Environmental Sustainability Tool (MyCREST) system, once completed.

Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof disclosed that the MyCREST system would help reduce energy consumption, improve occupant comfort and reduce impact of material usage.

Speaking at the earth-breaking ceremony for the new extension on Tuesday (Oct 27) in Jalan Cahaya here, Fadillah said his ministry, together with the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), had been working to produce more green rating system for buildings in the country.

“The new Miri Hospital extension is no exception (for MyCREST system).”

He revealed that the new extension would adopt the Industrialised Building System (IBS) technology to accelerate construction work.

Fadillah was confident that upon its completion in October 2023, the RM289.2mil building, with an area of 32,507 square metres, would ease congestion at the existing hospital, which has only 328 beds.
