Extra strength towards better MCO enforcement

The additional army personnel roped in from Kuching to help beef up enforcement of SOP guidelines pertaining to the MCO in Sibu.

SIBU: The additional army strength roped in to beef up enforcement of the movement control order (MCO) standard operating procedures (SOPs) began their duties today.

A total of 126 personnel from the Regiment 511 Territorial Army (Askar Wataniah), consisting of six officers and 120 volunteers were mobilised from Kuching to Sibu on Thursday (Feb 4).

Third Infantry Brigade Commander Brigadier General Datuk Azhar Ahmad officiated at their departure.

The personnel safely arrived at Rajang Area Security Command (RASCOM) Camp and were welcomed by the Ninth Infantry Brigade Headquarters Chief of Staff Lieutenant Colonel Anuar Ahmad, Team Commanding Officer and Ninth Infantry Brigade Headquarters Staff Officer.

All of them have been divided and are temporarily placed according to the teams that have been set during the assignment period.

Last Friday, Anuar also gave a briefing on the assignment of ‘Ops Penawar’ and urged the personnel to maintain discipline and adhere to the Covid-19 SOPs when performing their duties.

The additional military personnel were also mobilised to the roadblock posts throughout Sibu division today to perform their duties.

Such act shows the army’s commitment in helping the Sarawak government to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
