SARATOK: The existing standard operating procedure (SOP) of using face masks should be maintained and not abolished, says Abadi Hussein.

The Kalaka Saberkas chairman opined that wearing face masks was important as he welcomed several SOP relaxations set to be announced by Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today.

“For me, only the MySejahtera app scanning SOP should be relaxed.

“For the relaxation of wearing face masks, it is better to not do it first,” he said when asked which SOP relaxation he would like to see as the country transitions into the endemic phase.

He explained that despite the declining cases, Covid-19 was still lurking around.

“Therefore, the use of face masks is very important to protect individuals from infection.

“Don’t feel too comfortable until we are neglectful. Be aware that the virus is always mutating,” he added on Tuesday (April 26).

“Apart from that, other issues that still need to be given attention is the Covid-19 detection test at airports.”
