MUKAH:  The public recreation ground at the Pesta Kaul site here is being upgraded to make it more appealing to the public.

Owned by Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM), it has been in existence for many years and was quite well-patronised previously.

However, in the last one year or so, it has fallen out of favour with the public because of its limited and aging facilities.

A check yesterday found that the ongoing upgrading work is progressing smoothly and is expected to be completed in about two months.

The project is undertaken by a non-local contractor who has employed seven workers.

A worker who is from Betong said they commenced work about a week ago.

The upgraded recreation ground will have a reinforced (RC) concrete walkway, a new gazebo, exercise equipment, an integrated playset, 16 RC concrete benches, a close turf, three BBQ pits, new RC crossover low wall, a signage, ten new dustbins and three mild steel bollards.
