KUCHING: The new Cabinet line-up in the Unity government is hoped to ease the matters in returning Sarawak’s rights.

In expressing this, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63, and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali said that with Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof being appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister and four other Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) MPs holding the full ministerial posts, the interest of Sarawak and its welfare will be prioritised.

“I would like to congratulate the GPS MPs and the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) for the establishment of the new Cabinet.

“The appointments of five of our MPs and the DPM post is a recognition for the people of Sarawak, GPS, and its machineries.

“This is a new era where history is created where the DPM post is held by the Borneo State,” she said.

She said this when met by the media after officiating the Environment Awareness Programme at Kampung Malaysia Jaya Multipurpose Hall today (Dec 3).

Adding on, she also thanked the previous MPs who have helped in restoring the rights of Sarawak under Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC) Report.

“We hope that with this new Cabinet, the PM and DPM will continue to return our rights that have yet been returned.

“We are confident that under the leadership of this new Cabinet, this matter can be expedited for Sarawak. This is our hope,” she said.
