SIMUNJAN: Sports activities need to start at the grassroots level, in order to create a healthy society, Simunjan Assemblyman, Awla Dris said on sports facilities namely Simunjan District Closed Futsal Court. According to Awla, in line with today’s changing world, it is important that people spend time doing sports activities.
“The government is always interested in the needs of the people to have sports facilities,” he said. He said efforts to indirectly promote healthy lifestyles and maintain a good health. Awla took as an example the Serian District Closed Futsal Court which is currently expected to be the latest facility, especially for the people in the Simunjan constituency area to highlight talents in the sport.
According to Awal, the sports facilities which cost almost RM1 million through the provision of the Projek Mesra Rakyat (PMR) Batang Sadong (2016) and the RTP Project Simunjan (2017) are expected to be officiated by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department and Batang Sadong Member of Parliament, Dato ‘Sri Hajah Nancy Haji Shukri on Feb 24.
“This shows the long-standing ties and cooperation between the two elected representatives who are seen as contributing to harmony in sport-related activities,” Awla said. Meanwhile, Awla also hoped that the youths and community would fully utilise the sports facilities. The futsal court is also equipped with other facilities such as comfortable parking spaces and can accommodate up to 400 spectators. “We believe the futsal court facilities will be able to develop sports, especially in Simunjan constituency in future,” he said.
