Fake goods worth RM1.09 mln destroyed

NILAI: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) disposed of counterfeit goods estimated at RM1.09 million today.

Putrajaya KPDNHEP Enforcement Deputy Director Rosli Ahmad said the items, which included fake handbags, wallets, shoes, phone accessories, toner cartridges and alcoholic drinks were seized in 33 cases under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011.

“This is the sixth disposal for this year after receiving orders from the courts,” he told a media conference at the ministry’s enforcement department storage complex here.

Rosli said from January to Sept this year, the total disposal by KPDNHEP Putrajaya, totalled RM4.1 million involving 184 seizures in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. – Bernama
