MIRI: Senior vaccinees who had gotten their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at Eastwood Hall vaccination centre here said they had not experienced any negative symptoms or discomfort, so they advised against being influenced by fake news.

Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin found this out after listening to several senior vaccinees during his visit to the centre today.

Lee, who is also minister-in-charge of Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC), went to the centre just to watch the vaccination process there.

The vaccination programme, which would be carried out over four days from May 7 to 10 and especially for senior citizens, many required wheelchairs for movement.

As such, he requested the Red Crescent Society to lend 11 more wheelchairs to facilitate the movement of senior citizens at the vaccination centre. Dedicated parking spaces were also allocated especially for this group.

Lee expressed his appreciation to Yeo Hiap Seng (Malaysia) Berhad which contributed beverages for officers on duty at Eastwood Hall vaccination centre.

He also thanked the private sector and donors who all this while had provided contributions and support to the frontliners.

At the same time, he called for the cooperation of the public to immediately register for the Covid-19 vaccine through the MySejahtera application.

“For Phase 2, senior citizens and those with disabilities have come forward to receive the Covid-19 vaccine. For those who have not registered yet, please do so immediately.

“If you do not have the MySejahtera application or internet access, register with the District Offices; through Ketua Kaum or Ketua Kampung, Kapitan, and Tuai Rumah; through resident committees (Miri City Council, Subis District Council, Marudi District Council); or register at the nearest Health Clinic (for rural areas only).”

Also joining the visit were Miri DDMC chairman cum Miri Division Acting Resident Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf, Miri Division Health Officer Dr P Raviwharmman, and Miri District People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) officer Afizi Salam.
