Fake news or just a challenge.

MUKAH: Police here considered the three-day total lock down challenge from April 17 until 19 which circulated on social media on Wednesday as fake news.

“It’s fake news. Never heard about it,” said Mukah district police chief DSP Jimmy Panyau when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune about the so-called challenge yesterday.

He was asked to comment on concerns raised by the public here who claimed to have received the message which was made viral via WhatsApp on Wednesday.

One of them, a pensioner known only as Anok in his 60s, said he was worried about the total three-day lock down which barred people from going out.

However, he said he doubted it and asked whether New Sarawak Tribune had any idea about the matter, who in turn asked the local police.

The message, which seemed to be throwing a challenge to Sarawakians, stated “no groceries shopping, no pumping gas at the gas station, no ATM lines, no cars on the road, no ke sana ke sini, just stay at home”, during the three-day lock down.
