KUCHING: A total of 1,100 industry players will participate in the Fama Sarawak Festival (SSF) 2019 to be held at Medan Niaga Satok from April 26 to 28.
According to state Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (Fama) director Shahid Abu Bakar, the festival aims to promote the agro-based industry as a profitable business sector as well as attract entrepreneurs and the younger generation to diversify economic activities and gain additional income.
“This event is significant in driving the agriculture sector in Malaysia in line with the government’s intention of making Fama a leading agricultural marketing agency in the country.
“It will give exposure to entrepreneurs and help them to improve their competitiveness as well as attract young entrepreneurs to venture into agricultural marketing,” he explained.
Shahid added the programme was the best platform for consumers, entrepreneurs and farmers to meet and network.
“It will also make Medan Niaga Satok a one-stop centre for agro-based halal products,” he said.
About 70,000 visitors are expected to visit Medan Niaga Satok this weekend.
“In addition to the Grading, Packaging and Labelling (GPL) booth, there will be sales of fresh farm products such as MD2 pineapples, honey limes, corns and various types of vegetables.
“Visitors also will be entertained with bemukun and gendang Melayu performances and served with various popular Sarawak dishes such as Sarawak Laksa, ‘mi kolok’, ‘manuk pansuh’, and palm sugar,” he said.
