LAWAS: The first ‘Rumah Sejahtera’ project here was completed by the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) yesterday.

JBPM Rumah Sejahtera project coordinator PgKB I Tiong Ling Hii revealed that it took only one month and six days (36 days) to finish constructing the house.

Located in Kampung Serdang, Jalan Punang, the house has benefitted a family comprising 43-year-old fisherman Zulkifli Yahya, 41-year-old housewife Arini Mumin and their children of four girls and one boy.

“A total of five firefighters who were involved as craftsmen were appointed by the Lawas BBP, which was overseen by Lawas BBP station chief PPgB Zaki Hussin.

“The project commenced on Dec 9, 2019 and was fully completed yesterday. The total cost of the project is RM50,000,” said Tiong in a statement.

This project is one of the projects to rebuild dilapidated houses under the 2019 KPKT Poverty Eradication Programme where JBPM Sarawak has been commissioned to rebuild six houses, three in Samarahan and one each in Sibu, Bintulu and Limbang.
