MIRI: A family incurred losses amounting to RM400,000 after their 2-storey bungalow at Jalan Pujut 3B here was broken into last Sunday.

Miri District Police chief, ACP Khoo Leng Huat said the family only realised the break in around 7.20pm on Monday after they returned from a village at Niah near here.

Khoo added that the family concerned left their bungalow around 9am last Sunday to return to their village.

“When the family arrived at their bunglo they were shocked to find that two cars, a Toyota Camry and Honda Civic parked at the porch were missing, while the rear gate was wide open.

“When they entered the bunglo, it was in a mess and after a thorough check they found that a television set, jewelries, laptop and important documents were missing,” he said.

Khoo added that they have conducted an investigation following a report lodged.

“Initial investigation revealed that one of the windows which was not installed with metal grills has been prised open.
