Family wiped out in two-vehicle accident near Saratok

SARATOK: A family of four, including two children, were killed in a two-vehicle accident near the Roban junction early Today (July 11).

The tragic incident, which happened around 6.50am in Jalan Saratok-Sarikei, involved a car and a trailer.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the victims inside the car were a 30-year-old man, a 28-year-old woman and two boys aged four and one.

Firefighters from the Saratok station, about 8km from the accident location, rushed there after receiving an emergency call.

They arrived to find the family trapped inside their Honda City sedan.

Firefighters worked to extricate them from the wreckage with special equipment. However, they were pronounced dead later by paramedics.

Their bodies were handed over to the police to be taken to the hospital for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, the lorry driver escaped unscathed from the accident.

The operation ended around 9.30am after firefighters cleared the road and the vicinity of debris and oil spill.
