Maggi chefs preparing bubur lambuk for distribution.

KUCHING: Embracing the spirit of Ramadan, Maggi chefs freshly cooked 130,000 bowls of the famous Maggi bubur lambuk to be distributed to 135 locations throughout Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak.

The key beneficiary groups this year were frontliners, comprising Malaysian Armed Forces, Fire and Rescue Department, Royal Malaysian Police, government offices, and healthcare workers.

The Maggi bubur lambuk was also distributed to communities in need such as B40 families and the residents of 52 Program Perumahan Rakyat, as well as orphanage and welfare homes.

“We acknowledge the invaluable dedication and sacrifices by our frontline heroes who had immensely contributed to the needs of the community throughout this pandemic.

“This is our way in thanking them while we extend our Raya cheers to them, as they continue to serve the nation during these challenging times,” said Geetha Balakrishna, business executive officer of Maggi, Nestle (Malaysia) Berhad.

She said this year’s Maggi bubur lambuk initiative was significant as they had teamed up with Jasmine Food Corporation, ALIF, BHPetrogas, and Kara Malaysia in preparing this iftar meal made of a mixture of chicken, spices, and other fresh ingredients.

In support of the preparation of Maggi bubur lambuk, Malaysia’s leading rice producer Jasmine Food Corporation contributed 2,500kg of Jasmine fragrant rice while cooking oil brand ALIF sponsored 1,250 litres of cooking oil.

Maggi also received 140 liquefied petroleum gas cylinders from BHPetrogas and 1,250 litres of coconut milk from Kara Malaysia, a local producer that specialises in coconut milk products.

Nurul Shawalina from KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital said this kind gesture from Maggi had truly cheered up staff members who had all been working around the clock in the fight against Covid-19.

“A warm bowl of Maggi bubur lambuk will definitely bring contentment when breaking fast, providing us with the much-needed energy and motivation to perform our duties as frontliners at our very best,” she said.

Meanwhile, Hamdan Harun, president of Taman Sri Rasau neighbourhood watch committee, said they welcomed this heartfelt gesture from Maggi especially for the poor and those facing hardships due to the pandemic.

“We hope that through this initiative, we are able to inspire Malaysians to share the Ramadan blessing with those who serve or in need,” added Geetha.
