KUCHING: A farmer on his routine farming trip to his farm to plant chillies on Wednesday (Feb 10) afternoon had his family worried when he failed to return home by nightfall.

When there was still no sign of him late night, his family lodged a report with the Bintangor district police at 9.22pm. Police alerted the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre which wasted no time in launching a search and rescue (SAR) operations.

The search party managed to locate the victim — safe and sound.

“The search party called out the victim’s name and he responded. He was taken out of the farm area and handed over to his family,” Bomba said in a statement.

The SAR operations ended at 10.51pm.
