KUCHING: The Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) is preparing to take on new players if the penalty for players from the Malaysian Football League (MFL) is lifted.

FAS secretary-general Jefry Lana disclosed that an appeal letter has been submitted to the MFL.

“I have talked with Datuk Hamidin, Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president and MFL president on the matter.

“So we hope the MFL will reconsider our appeal,” he said.

Sarawak players will still continue their training sessions in the evening during the month of Ramadan.

According to Jefry, the FAS management has plans to take on new players to strengthen the team.

“It’s up to them to take local or foreign players,” Jefry said.

Meanwhile, the MFL has reduced the fine in the grant to Sarawak from 50 percent to only 10 percent cut.

The Sarawak squad are currently ranked second bottom in the Premier League in 2019 after 11 games following two wins and three draws.

They will play against PDRM in an away match this Saturday.
