Fast-breaking, ‘duit raya’ for Baiturrahmah orphans

KUCHING: Fifteen orphans from Baiturrahmah Orphanage attended an annual fast-breaking gathering organised by the Sarawak Museum Department (SMD) at the Islamic Heritage Museum, yesterday.

Present was the permanent secretary to the Tourism, Art, Culture, Youth and Sports Ministry, Hii Chang Kee.

“During Ramadan, the ministry likes to engage the public and organise the fast-breaking involving its various departments,” he said.

Hii presents ‘duit raya’ to the orphans.

The orphans were given “duit raya” at the event which was also attended by the museum acting deputy director, Suria Bujang and the department’s staff.

Other than that, the Islamic Heritage Museum organised a special Ramadan and Syawal exhibition.

The public can visit the museum on Monday till Friday from 9am to 4.45pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.
