KUCHING: PPESW BPSB JV Sdn Bhd released the following statement to the media yesterday.

“It is with absolute sadness we confirm that today we lost a member of our CMS family. He was carrying out his duties in directing traffic at a section of the Pan Borneo Highway project site when he was struck by a vehicle.

“Our onsite emergency responders, first aid officers and a sub-contractor who took him to hospital all tried valiantly to save his life; tragically, however, they were unable to save him.

“Our immediate focus now must be in providing as much care and support possible to our fallen colleague’s family, with whom our hearts and prayers are with at this extremely upsetting time.

“Our senior management members are already on their way to be with the family so we can help as much as they need us to.

“The heads of our HSSE and HR departments are working closely with the relevant authorities such as PDRM and DOSH, to collect statements and ascertain the details of this tragic incident.

“It is inappropriate for us to comment further at this time. Our main priority is to be there for the family of the colleague we lost today.

“Any details of any enquiry by CMS or the relevant authorities into the incident will be released with full transparency at the appropriate time. We must stress that at this point, our only thoughts are to provide support to the bereaved family.”
