SIBU: A father and his son narrowly escaped a life-threatening situation when their car caught fire at Jalan Oya here last Saturday.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
Fire and Rescue Department Zone 4 chief Andy Alie said that a team from Sungai Merah fire and rescue station swiftly responded to a distress call at 5.28 pm.
“The car was completely destroyed, but the fire was extinguished successfully,” Andy said.
The 33-year-old driver and his three-year-old son managed to exit the vehicle safely before the situation worsened, he added.
The exact cause of the fire and the extent of the losses are still being investigated.
