KUCHING: Like any other mothers out there, Sarawak Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah is thrilled that her daughter Associate Professor Dr Ida Fatimawati Adi Badiozaman from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus (Swinburne) has been selected as the winner of the United Nations (UN) Women 2020 Asia-Pacific WEPs Awards for the Community and Industry Engagement Category.

Fatimah shared both she and husbands are proud and believed that their love and strong support had made Ida what she is today.

“I hope this will inspire her children to work very hard and pursue their dreams the right and ethical way and make them understand that they can achieve anything if they set their minds and are highly committed to it,” she said when asked by reporters to share her thoughts on the recognition given to her daughter.

Fatimah, who has been at the forefront fighting for women’s right, said Ida had demonstrated exceptional qualities.

She also believe the recognition would pave the way for the next generation of Sarawak women leaders.

“And above all, as a mother and a wife, she has never put her career before the needs of her family.

“My husband and I are grateful to see how she has grown exponentially today. As a mother, her recognition is something more than just astonishing. It is of sentimental value to our family,” she added.
