KUCHING: Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah has expressed optimism on Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) winning the upcoming state election with a big majority.

“Our political stability is a major factor and indeed an indicator for GPS to win handsomely.

“Any Malaya based party will not be able to make inroad in Sarawak. However, if the Malaya based party such as Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Democratic Action Party (DAP) still want to contest against GPS, GPS will put up a fight,” said the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women’s Wing chief.

She noted that GPS, under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, has good track records of fulfilling its promises spelt out in the last election manifesto unlike Pakatan Harapan whose promises were not kept.

“Our financial standing is good through the brilliant revenue engineered by the chief minister. Through State Sales tax on oil and gas from 2019 to 2021, Sarawak has gotten more royalty which goes back to the people – construction of roads, bridges for connectivity, opening up of rural areas as well as providing basic necessities like water and electricity in remote areas even though such areas do not have critical mass.

“Other than that, he had also assured that initiatives that can only be seen in Sarawak such as Endowment Fund Sarawak (EFS), Maternity Assistance (BIB), special annual grant (GTK), Kidney Patient Assistance (BPBP), Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC), Death Compassionate Assistance (BIK), and many more will continue for social wellbeing of the people,” she added.

Separately, she also shared one of her favourite pantun reflecting the PBB’s basic tenet;

Nyior gading puncak mahligai

Sayang ketupat berisi inti

Hancur daging tulang berkecai

Jangan khianat kepada parti
