Reactions To Lim Guan Eng’s Demand For RM350 Mln Advance

KUCHING: Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family, Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah is very frustrated and annoyed with Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.

She accused him of “main sorong dan tarik tali” (beating around the bush) and playing politics at the expense of students after he told Sarawak to pay RM350 million to the federal government first before dilapidated schools in Sarawak could be repaired.

“Where is Guan Eng’s Malaysian spirit in this?” she wanted to know.

She said what worries her is the dilapidated schools are getting worse each day.

“Our school children in the rural areas especially are placed in environments that are not conducive to teaching and learning like their counterparts in Malaya,” she said.

There are 1,020 dilapidated schools in Sarawak with 415 of them requiring immediate attention to their advanced decay and deterioration.
