MIRI: Miri Hospital today was hit by power outage since 5.10am and had to depend on generator sets. The culprit was a faulty transformer.

The director, Dr Jack Wong said, “… some services will be affected. The hospital has a contingency plan and I urge the public to follow instructions when dealing with us during the critical hours.”

On whether the problem affected the operating rooms, he said elective cases would be postponed as the central air-conditioning was affected. Only emergency cases would be attended to as usual.

According to him, Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) was working on replacing the transformer which would take one day.

“SEB has also supplied additional generators while they work on the transformer,” he said, adding that basic clinical services had been restored.

During the disruption, no unwanted incident occurred to the patients as well as the public.
