SERIAN:  St Theresa’s Parish Pastoral Council (STPPC) has chosen Sept 28 to celebrate the feast of their patron saint, St Theresa.

The event will be held at the church compound here, to be followed by Thanksgiving Mass at 8.30am the next day at the church.

STPPC special function committee chairman Dennis Edwin said in a statement yesterday that the celebration will also kick-start the committee’s annual fundraising project.

“As has been our practice, the money raised will be used for the maintenance of the main church and all the churches in the parish. We’ll also put aside funds for the committee to carry out both physical and spiritual activities and projects,” Edwin explained.

Edwin said the guest of honour, Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kuching, the Most Reverend Simon Poh, will launch the celebration.

He further said because work on the Pan Borneo is still in progress, the committee has decided that there will be no procession around Serian town this time.

“Instead, the participants will be invited to recite the rosary in the church,” he said.

Edwin called on parishioners, friends and the general public to come celebrate together.

“Besides the Thanksgiving Mass, there will be various entertainment, a choir competition, lucky draws, sales of food, drinks and handicrafts, and many more.

Entry forms along with competition rules and relations can be obtained from Sebastian Sangah (014-2212693) or Danny Jerry (011-19696387) at the church.
