KUCHING: The federal government will be supplying 4.4 million doses of vaccine to the state government by the end of August this year.

National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (Pick) coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin had promised this matter with the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

He added that a total of 380,000 doses of vaccine will be delivered on the first week of June and weekly after until it reaches 4.4 million doses

“With this guarantee of supply, I would like to express my gratitude towards the Sarawak government for their intention to buy and get their vaccines.

“Nevertheless, I assure Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and Uggah that the federal government will provide a full supply of the vaccine as per promise and the delivery will be completed by the end of August,” he said during the hybrid press conference in conjunction with his work visit in Kuching yesterday (May 28).

Meanwhile, Uggah expressed his hope that when herd immunisation is achieved, the war against the Covid-19 virus would come to an end.

“With this, I would like to thank Khairy for coming in person and announcing the delivery schedule of the vaccine to the state himself,” he said.
