SARATOK: Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri has urged the federal government to construct a new Type 5 Health Clinic (KK5) here to support the congested Saratok Hospital.

He also requested an upgrade of the hospital, which was built in 1978, in terms of infrastructure and facilities.

“The current status in the number of outpatients at Saratok Hospital has reach 250 per day. This means it’s becoming increasingly crowded.

Therefore, we would like to request the establishment of a KK5 in Saratok to support hospital services. Inshallah, I will submit this matter to the relevant authorities,” he said.

Mohamad told this to the media after he conducted a working visit to Saratok Hospital today (Oct 26).

He explained that the desired KK5 should include a Dental Clinic.

During the visit, where Mohamad was briefed by Sebastian Duri Benidict, head of the Hemodialysis Unit, he also requested the construction of a new hemodialysis building to provide the necessary facilities for kidney patients.

He stated that the purpose of the visit was to assess the current operations in the Hemodialysis Unit and identify any issues at Saratok Hospital.

“I am satisfied with the hospital’s briefing on the current situation. My commitment is to assist Saratok Hospital in streamlining its operations,” he added.

Mohamad also took the opportunity to visit patients undergoing treatment in the unit.

Dr Mohamad Norhaizam Ahmad @ Narawi, the health officer for Betong Division, and Dr Muhd Zulhusni Muhd Damanhuri, a representative from Saratok Hospital, were also present.
