Federal, State governments collaborate on implementation of Sarawak’s digitalisation plan

KUCHING: The federal government will work with the state government on the implementation of Sarawak’s digitalisation plan.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the federal government had allocated RM4 billion ringgit to implement internet connectivity in Sarawak under the National Digital Network (Jendela) initiative.

He noted that the Sarawak government had also allocated a sum of RM1 billion for the purpose.

“I am excited with Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s forward looking vision in developing the state’s digitisation sector for the convenience of the people of Sarawak,” Annuar said after paying a courtesy call on Abang Johari at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petra Jaya on Friday (Oct 22).

He disclosed that during his visit to Sarawak this time, he would visit areas where ​​the telco towers had been built but where the internet service was still unsatisfactory.

“I have informed the Multimedia Communications Commission chairman to take action on the matter,” he said.

Meanwhile, Annuar thanked and expressed his appreciation to Abang Johari as well as the state government for facilitating the official launch of Keluarga Malaysia by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaacob at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) tomorrow night (Oct 23).
