KUCHING: The Federation of Kuching, Samarahan and Serian divisions Chinese Associations would gladly work closely with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to disseminate information and conduct joint roadshows to promote the recruitment of more non-Bumiputeras into the police force.

The Federation’s president Datuk Richard Wee said they were happy to note that PDRM was actively recruiting more non-Bumiputeras into the force.

In an interview with Bernama on Monday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said PDRM had been facing difficulty in the recruitment of non-Bumiputeras since 2010, adding that Chinese made up 1.9 percent of the total number of 123,000 officers and personnel in the country.

“There are multiple elements in the lack of response to the recruitment drive which we may need to discuss in greater detail with PDRM,” Wee told New Sarawak Tribune today when commenting on this low percentage.

“The Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations would welcome any engagement with the relevant authorities or units to collaborate in this meaningful undertaking,” he said.
