MIRI: Sarawak President’s Cup squad defeated Felda United 2-1 in a match here on Thursday. Hendry Amir Simon scored the first goal for Sarawak in the19th minute and midfielder Amir Amri Salleh put in the second in the 53rd minute.
Felda’s defender Mohamad Arif Asyraaf scored for his team in the 76th minute.
Sarawak team manager Nazri Datuk Ahmad Lai Bujang when met after the match congratulated the team for their fine performance.
“The team have performed very well in the match, and I am very proud of them,” he said.
Nazri also thanked the squad head coach Abdul Jalil Ramli for training the team well and instilling strict discipline on the players.
“The passion and co-operation among players during training session have been translated positively in the match on Thursday,” Nazri said.
Last Tuesday, Sarawak lost 2-0 to Perak in a home match, hence, Thursday’s winning raised the players’ spirit. Sarawak have eight more matches to play, two home and six away.
