Female driver injured in four-vehicle accident

KUCHING: A female driver sustained injuries following a four-vehicle pile-up along Jalan Pending this morning (Jan 30).

The accident involving two pick-up trucks, a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and a sedan happened around 9.50am near iCom Square, here.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Padungan station were deployed to the scene after they were alerted to a driver reportedly trapped in a vehicle.

One of the pick-up truck drivers was pinned to her seat and the firemen had to use special rescue tools to extricate the victim.

The woman sustained injuries to her legs and body and was administered first aid at the scene before being taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the other drivers, whose identities were not immediately known, managed to escape unhurt.

The team also carried out flushing works to clear the road from oil spills and debris before wrapping up the operation at 10.25am.
