MIRI:  A female motorcyclist was killed when the bike she was riding collided with a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle along Jalan Kampung Masjid Sungai 7 in Kuala Baram on Saturday night (July 24).

The deceased, identified as Gumas Nantal, 22, died on the spot in the 7.30pm incident.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said, initial investigations found that the 4WD was coming from Kuala Baram heading towards Senadin when it collided with the motorcycle.

“The motorcycle was coming from the opposite direction when it suddenly swerved into the opposite lane and collided with the 4WD vehicle,” he said.

The collision caused the 4WD vehicle to skid off the road and landed on its side by the roadside. Its driver, aged 51, was unhurt in the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death while driving.

The 4WD vehicle lands on its side following to the collision.
