MIRI: The diverse cultural festivals in Sarawak are a fundamental part of its unity and harmony, according to State Transport Minister Datuk Sri Lee Kim Shin.

“Sarawakians of all creeds and cultures come together to celebrate each other’s festivals, which serves as a unique platform for strengthening brotherhood and solidarity,” he said during his speech at the Malay Miri Association (PMM) Hari Raya open house on Sunday.

Lee illustrated how various celebrations, such as the vibrant Chinese New Year parades and the reflective Hari Raya, contribute to the communal spirit.

He said that these celebrations are key to reaffirming their commitment to mutual respect and unity, viewing diversity as strength.

“This spirit of unity and peace is essential for the continued progress and prosperity of Sarawak, ensuring that it remains a beacon of inclusivity and harmony for generations to come.

“When Sarawakians stand united, they can collectively address challenges, overcome obstacles and work towards common goals, ultimately driving sustainable growth and prosperity,” he added.
