KUCHING: A total of 557 less fortunate individuals from the Asnaf group in Asajaya received contributions in view of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Gawai Dayak celebrations.
Present to hand the contributions yesterday was Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah who is also Asajaya assemblyman.
Abdul Karim said the charitable programme is an annual event in aid of the less fortunate members of the community in Asajaya and aimed to alleviate their burden during festive seasons.
He also took the time to remind dwellers on the do and don’ts during the upcoming festive celebrations, particularly on Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) ‘no visiting’ policy.
“The government has decided that there will be no visiting activity during this year’s Hari Raya and Gawai celebrations but limited only to immediate family members,” he said.
He also urged the dwellers to continue practising social distancing and practise health measures such as using hand sanitisers, washing hands and wearing face masks.
“We need to continue adhering to the strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) in order to comply with the government’s conditional movement control order (CMCO),” he said.
