SIBU: The duration of the Festive Season Price Control Scheme (FSPCS) for Gawai Dayak this year has been extended from its usual seven days to 14 days, whereas the scheme for Hari Raya has been extended from 15 to 30 days.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Deputy Minister Chong Chieng Jen said this at press conference in conjunction with the implementation of the FSPCS for Hari Raya and Gawai Dayak held at Sibu Central Market today.

He said the price scheme for Gawai will start from May 25 till June 7, while the one for Hari Raya will be from May 21 till June 19.

“Thus, we urge traders to follow the directive issued. We are not out to penalise them but if they break the law, action will be taken against them.

“In addition, traders should also ensure that they display the pink price tag on controlled items,” he said.

According to him, the price scheme is to help consumers purchase goods at reasonable prices.

Chong also reminded traders that strict action will be taken against them if they failed to comply with the regulations that have been set up.
