SIBU: Festive celebrations bring together all communities, regardless of religion, background or political affiliation.

According to Work Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, during festivities, politicians can be seen sitting together at the same table, regardless of their political differences.

“Although we (politicians) may have differing opinions in politics, especially during elections, during Gawai, we come together, and I think tonight we are demonstrating something beautiful in our state and country.

“Each and every one of us here is not only confined to the Dayak community but includes many other religions and ethnicities,” he said in his speech at Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) Sibu branch Pre Gawai celebration at a renowned hotel here last night (May 25).

The Kapit MP stressed that the unity among Sarawakians, especially during festive celebrations, needs to be preserved.

“Not only during Gawai, but also Chinese New Year, Hari Raya and Deepavali, we all celebrate it together. This is something we need to make sure we can carry on,” he added.
