KUCHING: National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) has prepared the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for filming activities and is now awaiting approval from the National Security Council.

“Filming SOPs are very important for the industry to work in filming locations without compromising the safety and health of artistes, employees and workers,” the corporation said in a statement today.

Finas added it would undertake various initiatives to revitalise the industry based on Wawasan Kesejahteraan Bersama 2030.

It had been 71 days since filming activities stopped because of the movement control order (MCO) and this had affected the incomes of thousands of workers and caused losses of millions of ringgit, the corporation added.

Long-term plans would be streamlined for the creative industry, it added.

Since the establishment of the MCO, Finas has provided financial assistance of RM120,000 to those involved in the filming industry through non-governmental organisations (NGOs) related to the domestic creative industry.
