Fined RM1,500 for damaging other’s car

KUCHING: A local man was fined RM1,500 or one month’s jail in default by the Magistrate’s Court here today for damaging another individual’s car door in an incident of road bullying last Sunday (October 30).

Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi sentenced John, 29, who pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 427 of the Penal Code.

According to the charges, he was accused of intentionally damaging the door of a 57-year-old man’s Honda City car.

He is alleged to have committed the act in Jalan Batu Kawa at around 4.20pm on October 30.

Upon conviction, he can be punished with imprisonment of up to two years or a fine or both.

According to the facts of the case, during the incident at Jalan Batu Kawa at about 4.20pm, the complainant was the son of the victim who was driving his father’s vehicle, when suddenly his path was blocked by a Perodua Bezza.

As a result of the incident, the complainant had to stop his car on the side of the road.

The angry accused then opened the car door of the complainant forcefully causing damage to the wall of the car door.

Concerned about his personal safety and the damage suffered, the complainant then came forward to make a report at the police station.

The police then took further action which led to the arrest of the accused on October 31 (Monday).

As a result of the investigation, it was found that the accused had committed deceit by damaging the wall of the victim’s car, causing a loss of around RM150.
