KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party’s (SUPP) Wilfred Yap has been informed of the delay in upgrading the canopy and stage at the Kota Sentosa mini town square.

Yap, who is SUPP Public Bureau chief, said he was doing his rounds in Kota Sentosa when he was told of the matter.

Following complaints made, he then issued a letter of non-completion and a final reminder to the contractor concerned.

He said Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) currently had an existing policy to recommend non-performing and errant contractors for blacklisting.

Yap, who is also a councillor, said he would put forward his recommendation to MPP during the next full council meeting for the tender criteria be further tightened.

“This is to ensure that only the best contractors are awarded projects by MPP and the projects awarded will be completed on schedule and of high quality for the benefit of the public,” he added.
